A world-class logistics partner does much more than take your refrigerated cargo from one country to another.
Between February and August… it’s mango season in Mexico! Did you know that besides being delicious, mango helps to prevent asthma and improves your visual health?
This wonderful fruit also boosts Mexico’s trade balance, being one of the country’s most exported agricultural product.
Our customer in today’s story produces and sells wholesale farm products. His challenge was to export frozen mango from the Port of Altamira (Tamaulipas state) to Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.
After many years in the market, the producer knows very well how difficult it is to coordinate a mango export operation where nothing goes wrong, so he sought our help, as a trusted freight forwarder.
A comprehensive logistic plan
For the mango export process, the product must be frozen and shipped using a special container, the 40’RF reefer, with a motor-generator capable of maintaining the cargo at a temperature of -9.4°F (-23°C) during the 22 days of transit at sea.
To move the mangoes from the producer’s warehouse to the port, we used a refrigerated ground freight unit. It arrived at the plant with that exact temperature. By doing so, the cold chain is not broken, and the product does not undergo temperature changes when loading.
In addition to all the fundamental details in the operation, other details related to customer attention, such as quick responses, quotes in time and form were key to guarantee the success of the mango export.
Additionally, we supported our producer coordinating the dispatch with his customs agent, we negotiated favorable credit conditions and we gave him extra security with two maritime suppliers per route – on the event that there was no space with one shipping company on the necessary date, we could immediately use another, maintaining the same rate.
Peace of mind in every link of the cold chain
In the mango export process, being in communication is essential! We shared the cargo status day and night, with response times of less than five minutes. And have you heard about our Ocean Carrier Management service? We can help you get the best from your own contracts with carriers!
Fun facts:
